End of the night de The Doors fue incluída en el disco debut de la banda producido por Paul Rothchild. De hecho este tema fue uno de los primeros que Jim Morrison grabó en toda su carrera como cantante. Durante el verano de 1965, Jim escribió End of the night y otros cinco temas más. Estas canciones fueron grabadas en un disco demo en World Pacific Recording Studio, un pequeño estudio de grabación en Los Angeles. Esa fue la primera vez que Morrison escuchó su voz en disco.
